Keeping busy

We have had a very busy week this week in Year 1. We have measured out the length of a blue whale on the playground, watched a show based on the story of ” Lost and found” by Oliver Jeffers and we have continued to learn some of our dance to “Under the sea” from The Little Mermaid. In Literacy this week we have been focusing on the sound ‘aw’ and in Maths we have been learning about arrays.

What a wonderful week of learning

The children have been busy this week beginning their new topic for the term – A world of water. We started the week discussing animals that live in the ocean and made some information posters all about whales. They have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and they have used a variety of objects to help them, for example, they have used pasta shells. We have been focusing on the sound u-e this week in phonics and literacy too. This week saw the start of a new activity this week which was Mini Movers. The children loved this session and have begun to learn a dance to the song ‘Under the sea’ from The Little Mermaid. In baking they made jelly boats which they seemed to really have enjoy. Hopefully next week we will see lots more fun activities just like these!
